Boot Lengths – An Overview from the Ankle to the Knee

Boots are a type of shoe that is so versatile we see them being worn from summer through winter. There is never a time of year when boots are really out of style. Shoe manufacturers are making boots in all different styles and colors. You can find winter boots made with faux hide and fur or you can find leather boots that are perfect for a trip to the mountains. Cowboy boots are still popular, although boots are not limited to the Western style. They can be sophisticated and classic in style. There is a type of boot that is appropriate for almost any outfit. Boots come in various heights and your body shape as well as what you are wearing can constitute which height is best for you. Take a look at this guide to get more information.

    Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are extremely popular and can be worn by anyone. The trick to wearing ankle boots in the most fashionable way is to pair them with clothing that works with them. Most ankle boots look best when they are worn with pants that cover their top. If you don’t like the bulk or the heat a taller boot brings with it, you can opt for ankle boots. When wearing pants with them, many people won’t even realize your boots are short. You will occasionally see a celebrity or other fashion forward person pairing ankle boots with a short mini skirt or other retro clothing. While this is acceptable, you have to be confident and careful when trying this fashion move.

    Mid Calf Boots

Mid calf boots are great for many people, but you should know that they could make short legs appear even shorter. They are the perfect combination for that skirt that falls right below your knee. They will allow a little skin to show in between, but not enough to make the look ridiculous. Mid calf boots are comfortable and stylish. You can find them in Western style for that jean skirt and t-shirt. You can also find them in sophisticated black heel styles for that work suit. No matter what you do, just be sure that you keep your skirt hem right below the knee when wearing these boots. You can also pair them with jeans or pants if you like. Try tucking them in or pulling them out over your boots for great style.

    Knee Boots

Knee boots were once considered so sexy that only exotic dancers wore them. Today however, knee boots, are hot and classy. Knee boots work best on long legs. Short legs can look very short when in knee boots, unless you are wearing a very short skirt with them. They can slim legs and create a sexy look. We are also seeing knee boots worn with skinny jeans tucked into them, which is very trendy at this time. You can wear these boots with short dresses, skirts, or pants. Just be sure not to wear them with long dresses, unless the dress has a high slit in the skirt. If it does, then these boots would be perfect!

    Above The Knee Boots

Only the tall can wear boots that come above the knee. They are likely the only people who have enough leg to spare. Short people who try to wear boots above the knee will find that the boots will hit their waist before they get a good fit. Above the knee boots should be reserved for hitting the clubs or a hot date. They should not typically be worn to the office or to a conservative event. They are a little risky and can be seen as being too sexy. So, be aware of these things with above the knee boots and wear them appropriately.

As you can see, boots come in many different heights. Each height works best with specific clothing. If you love boots, consider getting several pairs in appropriate heights. Remember however, that unless you are tall with long legs, you may not be able to wear all heights in a flattering manner. Go with what you think looks best and what feels best for you. If you do that, you will be wearing boots with style.
